Hello fellow bloggers!
Today I’m accepting the Liebster award from Dr. Florence over at FIEZ blog. She’s a teacher in Africa where her partner, 3 children and many students enjoy the entertaining stories, poems, and writing tips from her blog…and I encourage you all to go enjoy them too! There’s much to be learned from her inspirational posts.
Finally, I’m thanking Ket from https://cynicalsouls.wordpress.com. KetCage easily creates some of the most wholesome, well-thought out, creative content I’ve encountered on this site. Seriously, visit his blog for some heartfelt poetry or some intriguing philosophies.

11 Questions from Fiez
1. What are your favorite blog topics?
Anything to do with analyzing literature (especially film.)
2.Which of your blog posts do you think is the best?
I loved writing my Quarterly Two-Cents Reviews because remembering all the books I read each month brings back (usually) positive memories of what my life was like during that time. These posts also give me a guilt-free reason to procrastinate on Netflix instead of studying.
3. What is your country of origin what do you like about your country?
I’m from Canada and love the friendly attitude towards all cultures and backgrounds. My dream is to travel to all 13 provinces + territories.
4. How is your emotional state when looking at an adult crying bitterly?
It’s strange to say but I usually look away. If they’re not someone who I can hug or comfort, the next most respectful thing I can think of is to pretend I haven’t noticed them in their vulnerable moment.
5. If you were to live someone else’s life, who would it be and why?
♪I wouldn’t wanna be anybody else.
You made me insecure
Told me I wasn’t good enough
But who are you to judge
When you’re a diamond in the rough
I’m sure you got some things
You’d like to change about yourself
But when it comes to me
I wouldn’t want to be anybody else♪
5. If you were placed in an air-conditioned room for a whole day, how comfortable would you be?
I’d feel normal…just like every classroom/store/building I’ve spent the whole day in. It might sound spoiled but, in my province, all schools and supermarkets are legally required to run the furnace/AC up to public standard…and now you see why I like Canada so much! However, it makes me realize just how many blessings like free AC everywhere we take for granted.
6. When you become the president of your country, will you still blog?
Well, this is why I seriously wonder if I COULD be president because already just being a student hindered me from getting this post up on time…never the less running the whole country. But I believe that if you have a message that’s important enough, you will always find a way to get the word out or blog about it.
7. What is the one food you’ll not eat for all the gold in the world?
I heard this one story recently about a guy who was promised $500 for eating 3 jars of mayo with nothing else. He got half way through the first before puking and to cut a long story short I wouldn’t eat mayo.
8. How many books have you finished reading this month?
Short, easy-to-consume Youtube videos are the way I roll now, Baby!
9. On a scale of 1 to 10, with ten as the strongest, how would you rate your passion for exercise?
6/10…I like the feeling of healthy, pro-activeness I get from taking care of my body but I always get bored unless I feel like there’s a purpose to being fit other than getting a beach bod.
10. What character/attitude of yours do you like most?
Pro-activity. Sometimes, it’s also the one I hate the most. If you’ve met me, you’ll understand.
11. How do you deal with annoying company?
This reminds me a life hack I saw on Youtube: do this if you have a coworker to whom you can’t directly say “I’m busy,” but that also won’t stop engaging you. Say something like, “Oh funny; will you finish telling me all about your vacation on the way to the printer?” Then, pretend to indulge in their conversation all the while walking to their desk instead of the printer. The idea is for them to subconsciously sit in their spot and naturally feel like it’s time for the story to draw to a close and finish the conversation them self…without even noticing you didn’t walk to the printer.
Haven’t tried this personally but at least now you know, right?
Questions from Nessa
1. What place would you like to visit at least once in your life and why?
All of Canada because I feel like if you haven’t even experienced everywhere in your own country, you won’t fully appreciate the new experiences in other countries? Know yourself first.
2. When was the last time you felt like you wanted to disappear?
I feel this more and more as I encounter adult responsibility and I’ve just accepted that stress is just the price to pay with for the fun, independence you get when you become an adult. Bittersweet times, huh?
3. If you could have dinner with three persons, living or dead, who would they be.
Does it count to have dinner with currently living people from 5-6 months ago? Because I would just have dinner with the same people I do now and tell everyone to invest in Zoom before quarantine!
4. What’s your current favourite movie?
The Sound of Music…because of the amazing music and incredible symbolism. They don’t make movies like that these days!
5. How do you manage your work/studies and blogging time?
I am CLEARLY not the right person to ask since I usually disappear for months on end to complete studies and then come around to blogging after. Your heart will guide you for what you’re meant to focus on at that moment in time and I live by that.
6. What book would you never get tired of reading?
I know myself too well and this won’t happen. There’s nothing that I won’t tire of reading eventually. I thrive from change and new beginnings.
7. To you, what’s the closest thing to real magic to you?
True love…not in the cheesy way though!
8. What’s that thing you won’t ever give up on?
Art. It doesn’t get the respect it deserves in our society but it’s a universal, eternal language that heals and saves us all and I will never stop celebrating that.
Questions from KetCage
Do you think everyone has a purpose in life? If so, what do you think yours is?
Like most young people, I’m still lost on the journey to my purpose but what I know for sure is I’m on this planet to help people improve. I’m not sure what yet, but I feel the most at peace when volunteering or mentoring others on their journey.
How do you justify your existence? (Similar, but not the same 😀 )
I always remind myself that mom carried me around for 9 months, sick and weak and labouring for hours so that I could be where I am today. So whatever I’m doing better be something that would make her proud after 9 months of pain and if it’s not, I don’t waste my time on a useless activity.
What do you think are three things that form a triangle of balance in your life?
Filled social life. Fulfilling Duties. Free will.
What are your greatest fears? Do you plan on overcoming them? How?
I’m scared of the grey area. I don’t like knowing that I don’t know. I just like to know it’s either you’re with me or you’re not. Either it’s happening or it’s not and that mentality hinders me and sometimes people that I love. I’m tackling that issue by being more free-spirited in group projects or job opportunities. I’m learning to just let things happen the way they should.
What’s one target you’re working on right now?
Being confident, honest and assertive in my communications…even when I’m scared or don’t feel 100% worth it.
What do you do to pick yourself up when you are demotivated?
One word: music. I told you, art is the universal healer.
5 of your top pet peeves.
I don’t focus on my pet peeves: here’s why. According to Hermann Hesse’s philosophy, we only hate traits in others that we hate in ourselves. I’ve realized that the things that peeve me off about most people are usually things I later catch myself doing and then hate myself for. I’ve since found a more healthy way to address pet peeves: instead of brooding about how much you hate a person’s behaviors, empathize and see the person separately from their behavior. Imagine what motivated them to act the way they did and be honest about how you would react in those circumstances. Sometimes the truth hurts but soon you feel happier and enlightened overall.
What was one thing you thought would be the end of you but only made you stronger?
I did not fit in well when I was a kid but as I got older and went through the high school stage, I came into my true social butterfly self and was finally fitting in. So I was gutted when my family had to move out of province immediately after I had overcome my social fears. I turned out fine and, in retrospect, received a much more diverse, accomplished upbringing once I moved from the comfort zone of my hometown.
What’s your favourite passtime?
It’s become watching Netflix which makes me sound like a couch potato…I’m not, I promise! I just spend all of my other time working on endless engineering projects and labs and job applications and bills and all the other responsibilities adults face. When I finally get free-time I get lazy and just want the simplest, thought-free, comedy shows to relax with. But I make sure to also do volunteer projects in my free time and I like that!
Do you have any short term goals that you are working on?
I want to go fishing before winter season starts!
What is the most exciting thing you can think of right now?
There might be a 4 day work week instituted in North America and I keep thinking of all the places my friends and I could take roadtrips to.
Also, I’m alive and well and not sick with COVID-19 and everyone I love is safe and happy and not in the hospital or jail or court. No matter what bad thing happens, I at least have these blessings…what’s more exciting than that? #countyourblessings
